Education inequality is a challenging issue that places both students and children from low socioeconomic backgrounds at a disadvantage as it negatively impacts their academic performance as well as their future opportunities. Additionally due to the differences in spaces that are determined by socioeconomic statuses, their access to conducive environments as well as resources are further limited. Bridging spaces investigates the various factors that contribute to this issue to explore how the current challenges of education inequality can be addressed to better support the learning and development of students.

Bridging Spaces was the title utilised for the first outcome, taking the form of a publication, this book explores and documents the different ways that placemaking has taken shape within various rental estates in Singapore. In addition to this, the publication also acts as a tool that collects and presents the opinions as well as thoughts on how these spaces can be better improved by students.

From exploring the differences that are within the rental estates in Singapore, we learn that there are differences in the amenities that are available within these spaces that contributes towards hindering how people and residents could utilise these spaces, like the void decks. Growing Spaces is a publication that collects and documents the application of a modular series of furnitures constructed from PVC pipes, with consideration to the transient nature of these spaces.
