GRAPHIC DESIGN

VISUAL NARRATIVE

Bearing Stories is designed to explore the experiences of women dealing with postpartum depression in non-clinical and familiar settings in Singapore. While there are few existing resources targetting fathers, this project specifically aims to enhance the communication skills, empathy, and understanding of first-time fathers toward their partners experiencing postpartum depression. By utilising visual narratives as a tool for prevention and learning, insights have been gathered through comprehensive research and interviews, deliverables thus facilitating observations and expanding knowledge, hoping to bridge communication and knowledge gaps between partners as they navigate this transformative journey together.

Seasons and Reasons

Wall Narrative

DESIGN OUTCOME

WALL DECALS AND NARRATIVE

ILLUSTRATION

Seasons and Reasons unfold from an interview with a mother who grappled with what she initially believed to be postnatal blues. This narrative briefly explores a mother's journey through trigger points with her newborn, their effects, and her eventual adaptations. Transitioning into a wall narrative, first-time fathers can immerse themselves in enlarged illustrations and a narrative they can absorb on the spot, aiming to evoke empathy and understanding.

Seasons and Reasons further aims to convey to first-time fathers that this story is just one among many vulnerable narratives waiting to be shared.
