Neither Here Nor There is a discursive visual communication project centred around the lives of 1.5 Generation Immigrants in Singapore, a demographic that flies under the radar of public interest, inquiry and recognition but yet makes up a large proportion of Singapore's youth population. Intentionally kept open-ended, the project was able to faithfully capture the nuances of their lives through the means of object communication, in-depth interviews and imagery as both the good and bad sides of their situations were allowed to come into light.

Overall, the project is an exercise to understand and celebrate them as a demographic and to bring their stories into public consciousness through design and conversations.

As an introductory set of artefacts, these moving posters establish the tone of the project as well as serve as a teaser for the talking points that will be explored in the 2nd Artefact. This medium of communication was chosen to intentionally highlight the audio and direct quotes from the interviewees as the heart of the project. The videos serve a supporting role, offering us a small peek into the lives of 1.5 Generation Immigrants in Singapore.

This publication serves as the heart of the project as it will celebrate and communicate the full breadth of stories and conversations that I have conducted with 1.5 Generation Immigrants in Singapore over the past academic year. In it, we can see how their lives and experiences shape their unique perspectives and challenges with identity, future planning and personal relationships as a demographic.
