GRAPHIC DESIGN

The Serendipity Project seeks to encourage the adoption of the dérive in domestic urban exploration as an affordable and accessible alternative to overseas travel, through the rediscovery of overlooked spaces, objects and entities around Singapore, especially for financially marginalised tarvellers. The project attempts to appropriate the use of the dérive in local context and elevate the impression of the urban fabric in Singapore through transforming spatial identities across various neighbourhoods through the distinctive findings and personal accounts of the participants.

KIT

PUBLICATION

The introductory kit serves as a primary tool that introduces and facilitates the dérive. Its centrepiece, The Dérive Passport, is carefully designed following a sequence of prompts that serve as instructions to guide the navigation of the user. The prompts are designed around the common yet overlooked structures around the Singapore's streetscape to break the common commuting patterns of the participants to increase the chances of rediscovery.
